West 14th Steak House, Dubai, Cuisine: Steakhouse

We decided to go to “West 14th Steak House” for the 2nd time for our anniversary. The restaurant situated in Oceana Residencies and also close to Movenpick Hotel on the Palm Jumeirah. A little difficult to find due to poor signs in the car park. You must go come off the Tiara exit, then take a left under the road and then Ocean is on the right hand side. In the car park keep your eyes peeled or else you will miss the sign. Up a flight of stairs and you come out in the garden/pool areas of the magnificent Ocean Residences (if my boss give me a raise!).The pool drops onto the beach and is at least 50metres in length. There is also a lazy river and lots of loungers. At night you can see all of Dubai. Spectacular!

The restaurant is based upon a New York style steak house. Plush red and black chairs and a very nice environment. Our host greeted us and asked for our reservation . A selection of knives is presented before you get your steak. Pretty nice dining ware too. This was our 2nd time coming so I ordered the Caesar salad for starters and my partner passed but managed to get half after she had a bite.It was like 3 small heads of baby Gems lettuce bursting with flavours and a mouth watering salad to boot. I ordered the Wagu Strip loin (190). My partner had the New York strip (160 AED) and we shared mash (28). The Wagu was simply sensational. I have never had a better steak anywhere. My partner was also blown away by the one piece I kindly offered her. I savored each and every piece.

The place is not cheap especially the sides but you could always share a side. We had no room for desert but they sounded nice. The wine was a very nice Australian. The music was loud enough to hear and also quite loungey with the likes of St Germain. Quite funky!

We retired to the outside bar which was quite and got a sofa with a great view.

Staff were very courteous throughout the evening. Even the manager came to us twice. Once to ask about our food and once to refill our glasses. Service with a smile! It was a Monday night and the place was packed as it was same last time.
